An Ulterior Motive

“A spin off of The Wisdom of the Ancestors series, this is the first book in The Alex-Mont Kids Saga. This is a stand-alone story, but I loved hearing the updates of characters I’ve grown to know and love. This is Linda and Will’s story. Two successful, strong individuals that are brought together. I loved the twist of the stalker!
Ann Jeffries has created an epic extended family, and I love how each new story expands the circle of characters. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.
I can’t imagine anyone but Kelley Hazen narrating these books. She has given each character their own voice and their personality comes through loud and clear. A fantastic listen!”  —Catrina P.,  03-10-2020 (Audible.com)

“Ann Jeffries has written another fantastic book in An Ulterior Motive. I loved the relationship of Linda and Will. The cameo appearances of other characters from the Wisdom of Ancestors was an added bonus. The book has great imagery, suspense, chemistry and an added stalker. I hadn’t expected the ending, but found it so fitting. Kelley Hazen is magical bringing the characters to life. She gives them distinguishable voices, and is able to perform a wide range of ages, ethnic backgrounds, and genders. This book is a stand-alone listen. I loved it!” Jan M. 2-23-2020 (Audible.com)

“Fantastic. I loved the story. The writer is one of my favorites and the narrator has such an amazing voice, I listened to the story twice.”  Jackie T.  2-18-2020 (Audible.com)

“A Great Listen. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it fun. I’ve listened to the books from the Wisdom of the Ancestors series out of order, so it’s interesting to go into the future and hear this series from the beginning. All these books are based on family and friends and its can be uplifting listening at times and at others you just find yourself laughing out loud and you have to back it up because you’ve missed something. After childhood of surgeries, Linda is now a Prima Ballerina considering what to do next in her life. She decides on opening a dance school with the money she’s earned. Dancing has not only brought her wealth, its brought her fame and a stalker. It’s very enjoyable with a surprise ending. Looking forward to the next book in the series.”  Lynda   2-09-2020 (Audible.com)

“Good Read. An Ulterior Motive: The Alex-Mont Kids Saga #1 was a good read by Ann Jeffries. Will Hamilton is a sports icon that is known to the world as The Hammer. Linda Lewis is a prima ballerina who goes incredibly fast on her pointed toes. Will isn’t usually a classical ballet guy but when he sees Linda, he’s mesmerized. Linda is known to the theatre world as “The Black Swan”. She fears that her body will fail her and her career would end. She wants to figure out what she will do with her life then. Her security team must also keep her safe from a stalker. I enjoyed reading Will and Linda’s story and can’t wait to read more by the author.” — Ashley Hedden   03-04-2021

“5 out of 5 stars, A home run with the bases loaded! As usual, Ann Jeffries has done it again — powerhouse reading. She brings readers up to date about characters from her other novels without taking away from the brilliance, romance, and mystery of this novel. She has found a way to keep readers intrigued. Once I’ve read an Ann Jeffries’ novel (and I’ve read them all) I can hardly wait for the next.” — Golden Girl

“5 out of 5 stars, Had me from the beginning…and that ending!!! I don’t know about you, but when I’m stressed out (as Covid-19 has most of us), I read a lot. I’m a writer, and I should be working on my next book, but instead I’m getting out of my own head by reading some of my favorite authors’ latest books. Ann Jeffries never lets me down. I love the families in her series. Huge families like mine. I have four siblings. Anyway, Miss Ann’s story this time is about beautiful and accomplished ballerina Linda Lewis and businessman and ex-baseball player and icon, Will Hamilton. Of course, it’s an instant attraction, however the obstacles in their way which includes their busy careers, jealous exes, huge family obligations and a stalker, all make this story hard to put down. I loved the familial closeness, the wisdom of the elders, the warm humor that Miss Ann liberally sprinkles in her writing. And that ending had me in tears. The family just keeps growing.” — Janice Sims, 5-7-2020

All in the Family

The author writes compelling characters and realistic situations. Kelley Hazen is incredible performing this book. She brings the characters to life with her voice. I could hear exactly who was speaking. I love how talented she is in performing various ages, gender, and ethnicity.” —  Jan M.  11-20-2019 (Audible.com)

“A Great Listen. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it fun. I’ve listened to the books from this series out of order, so it’s interesting to go into the future and see some of the kids grown. All these books are based on family and friends and its can be uplifting listening at times and at others you just find yourself laughing out loud and you have to back it up because you missed something. The interesting and intriguing characters keep you listening, wondering what unexpected twist will happen next. It’s very enjoyable and I’ll have to check out more books from this series.” — Lynda 11-18-2019 (Audible.com)

“Great Read. All in the Family (Family Reunion: Wisdom of the Ancestors #17) was a great read by Ann Jeffries. This book consists of; All in the Family, and Dedicated to Duty. In All in the Family, Tucker Cavanaugh knew immediately that Whitney Ivy Alexander was the right woman for him. Tucker is a US Marine medical student and Whitney is a law school student. They can’t fight their attraction even with the challenges they face. In Dedicated to Duty, Commander Helen Marlowe finds herself pregnant with US Air Force jet pilot, Captain Shawn Baxter. Shawn is now raising their daughter alone but is determined to find Helen. I enjoyed this book and loved the life Kelley Hazen brought to the characters. I can’t wait to read more by the author.” —  Ashley Hedden   6-22-2021 (Audible.com)

“When Tucker first saw Whitney, he knew it was meant to be. As he got to know her and her family, it just confirmed it… Ann Jeffries adds another fantastic story to her Family Reunion – Wisdom of the Ancestors series. Kelley Hazen delivered another very enjoyable performance. It amazes me how she can do so many different characters voices flawlessly.” — Catrina P.,  2-12-2020 (Audible.com)

“I did enjoy listening to this book due to the characters and narration. It is about primarily 2 people Linda Lewis and Will Hamilton and their relationship. I loved the entire Lewis family and the surprise of one of Linda’s stalkers and ending. Thank you.” — Willee, 02-03-2020 (Audible.com)

Bittersweet Memories

“Ann Jeffries and Kelly Hazen do it again! When Jackie loses her husband, her baby, and her daddy in quick succession then her mother falls ill, she’s about to lose her business and if she doesn’t get a miracle everything she knows will be lost. This book is so good I love when Jackie and Jackson meet. I love the interaction with her and her siblings and the employees at the Tourism shop. I love Kelly Hazen’s voice and I’ve come to depend on Ann Jeffries’ books to be read by her. From the year and discovering this new series they’re a great duo in any book by them is a guaranteed yet! Just know it will not be a waste of a credit.” —  Janalyn, 12-05-2019 (Audible.com)

“A Great Listen. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it very entertaining. Life has been hard on Jacqueline; she lost her husband at a young age and the business they created together is in danger. Now the boy that broke her heart is the man that can save her business and her families dreams. There’s a common theme through all these books, and that is family. Many of Jacqueline’s choices are based on her family needs. The interesting and intriguing characters will keep you listening, wondering what unexpected twist will happen next. Probably longer than you intended to listen. This is a very enjoyable series.” — Lynda, 12-5-2019 (Audible.com)

“History Can Repeat. I have to admit this is my first listen by author and enjoyed it with great narration. It is about Jacqueline Conner Mitchel (Jackie) along with her husband Bobby opened a travel and tour company and he died while doing a tour. Jackie was under much duress with Bobby’s death her miscarriage and business income in jeopardy due to finances. Enter Jackson Chase a very persistent man and Jackie’s first love as teen pursues her. There are torrid love scenes so beware but I loved the ending. Thank you.” — Willee, 12-04-2019 (Audible.com)

“Great Read. Bittersweet Memories (Family Reunion: Wisdom of the Ancestors #16) was a great read by Ann Jeffries. Jacqueline Conner Mitchell lost her husband Bobby, and now has to keep their fledging travel and tour company afloat alone. He died while she was pregnant in a plane crash leading a tour of Africa. Tragedy struck her a second time when she lost their unborn baby and her father. Now her mother is sick, she has teenage siblings, and her business is failing. She needs an infusion of cash to save her business.

Jackson Chase knows that Jacqueline is the love of his life and he won’t allow her to continue to ignore him. Unfortunately, she loved him once before an incident led to them separating. Jackson is now a multibillionaire and the owner of the local bank. He is doing everything he can to force her to come to him for help. Jacqueline has no choice but to submit to Jackson’s marriage demands to support her family and help her business survive. I really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.” — Ashley Hedden, 10-10-2021

“A very touching story. Jackie was dealt a tough hand… the loss of her husband and unborn child left her reeling, and now the business they had started was having financial difficulties. Jackie is a strong woman, but when Jackson, steps back into her life, it may be too much for her to handle.” — Catrina P., 2-06-2020

“Ann Jeffries has done a fantastic job with this story. The characters are well developed and the storyline is engaging. A great addition to the Family Reunion – Wisdom of the Ancestors series. Kelley Hazen is amazing. She not only has the ability to provide different voices and accents for the characters, but she narrates with such emotion. She truly brings the characters to life.” — Catrina P,  2-06-2020 (Audible.com)

“Bittersweet memories… bittersweet love… I don’t know other books in the series, but if they are as good as this one, I’ll definitely look for more. Let down by her boyfriend Jackson and heartbroken at 15, Jacqueline later manages to find true love with her husband Bobby. But then one tragedy strikes after another: her husband is killed; she loses their unborn child and her father dies soon after… Can it get any worse? Then Jackson comes back into her life and by manipulation forces her to marry him to save her from financial ruin… Does he love her or does he just obsessively want to possess her…?

At first, I thought I wouldn’t like Jacqueline and Jackson at all; she was too much into her grief and hatred towards Jackson and his obsession with her was almost on the brink of stalking… But then, as their story developed, as we got to know the history behind their complicated relationship, I came to like them more and more, to the point of finally keeping fingers crossed for Jackson, hoping he would win Jacqueline’s love back:)

All the main characters in the story are full-bodied, complex people; they are flawed, sometimes overreact and behave irrationally, just like in real life. There are some minor characters who are less well developed and serve only as pretexts for some events to happen, but as it makes for a gripping, emotional story it does not bother me too much… The best part of the book is that I really did believe in the emotional bonds between various characters – bonds of love, of hatred, of friendship…, they do ring true.

Narration by Ms. Hazen is very good, as usual. She is great at doing different voices and faultless in the narrative parts. It’s a wonderfully emotional interpretation of the book.” — Lidia Chymkowska, 12-15-2019 (Audible.com)

“Epic. Bittersweet Memories by Ann Jeffries is an epic listen. I love how the author writes the characters with depth, heart, and redemption. The focus on family is strong in this book, along with success. The character of Jacki was outstanding for her fortitude and resolute to overcome adversity. Kelley Hazen was amazing bringing the numerous characters to life with her voice. She performs a multitude of ages, ethnicity, and genders. I love the fact that I can easily hear who is speaking. This book will definitely stick with me. Well done!”  Jan M.,  12-10-2019 (Audible.com)

“4.0 out of 5 stars. Ann Jeffries Has Done It AGain!! Awesome writing! It was so good that I couldn’t put it down; it took me only two days to read. It was a powerful, hot love story as well as a story about familial love and sacrifice even when making that sacrifice may sting for a minute. The disappointments added just enough to let readers know that the privileged have their ups and downs. Character placement was perfect in giving the reader something to anticipate or an introduction as to who is who at just the right time. Also, since I’ve read all of Ms. Jeffries’ books, I know all the characters as if they were members of my family. Therefore, I’m always glad when she gives updates of characters that I know from previous books through cameo appearances. Everything about this book was captivating.” — Golden Girl, 9-2-2019

“5 out of 5 stars. Love! Talk about a wonderful love story. This one by Ms. Jeffries is one of her best yet. It seems she is getting better and better. A great romantic read.” — Ebony74, 1-8-2020

Sweet Justice (Book 3 in the Chi-Town Girls Trilogy)

“A very interesting addition to this series! We got to know a lot of people in the first book in this series but this one continues with even more! The people in this series run in a financial circle that I know nothing of and can only imagine. This book centers around two people who would remind you of Oprah Winfrey and possibly Bill Gates. Rich beyond your wildest dreams but living a life in service to the less fortunate. I found it to be very interesting especially the parts where the suspense was intense. I will continue to look for more books by this author.
This review is my own honest opinion.”  — Cyndi, 9-18-2021

“Great Read. Sweet Justice: Chi-Town Girls’ Trilogy (Family Reunion: Wisdom of the Ancestors #15) was a good read by Ann Jeffries. Tina Justice turns heads everywhere she goes, and that includes the club she is at. Nico Collins thought all the hoopla was over the male matinee idol. Neither Tina or Nico would predict just how their lives would end up colliding. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the authors.”  Ashley Hedden, 10-9-2021

“I read one author’s comment that this book is a home run. My view is that it is a grand slam — a home run with the bases loaded. When I think she can’t get any better, she proves me wrong. I really liked that there were some surprises for me. I had to say to myself that I didn’t see that coming. I just ordered “Bittersweet Memories.” When I’ve completed this book, I will have read all of her books. Once I start reading, I just can’t put the book down. They have now become favorites to people that I’ve recommended them to. Looking forward to the next book!” — Golden Girl

Crystal Clear Persuasion (Book 2 in the Chi-Town Girls Trilogy)

She seemed to have everything she could want except a child for her own. Unfortunately, her husband didn’t want a child and it was a huge problem in their marriage.
